saturday morning

This Saturday morning which quickly turned into Saturday afternoon was a busy one. Farmer's market, shopping, thrifting, antiquing, food and then so much rest. A few notes;

I should have bought that orange jumpsuit but I look oh so terrible in orange. If it were black or red it would have been mine.
That cat hung out by all the weird cups and it wanted to love on me so bad.
If Aadi and MJ had a baby.

ode to trinkets

My husband calls me a thrift store pack rat, and you know what? He's right. I am. I will go there, buy ten dollars of worthless trinkets never to throw them away. I am a hoarder, I have a problem, but I just find weird trinkets so charming. I said a while back I'd take you on a tour of what I have, well here is a small preview, this is a good start.

A small mirror box and a wooden quail that sits on a table in my living room.

This is a Colonel that I just thought looked really cool, the See's candy truck has been in my family for ages Catholic Grandma used to keep fruit snacks in it.

I collect snow globes. I only have three, two of which are thrifted, the Lion King one Zack bought me when the musical tour came here a year ago. I'm working on collecting more.

Happy Monday y'all!

bijou market....why did i not know about this?

This is like my MECCA you guys! I want to go to here, who wants to go with me? Day after Rebecca Black Friday, a lovely little crafty market gracing the town of Salt Lake City. I am so there!

Bijou Market

It looks so heavenly. Kelsey describes it as a handmade haven, like walking through your favorite Etsy shop. I can dig that. I may have to plan this before I plan the day of thrifting after this...Bijou Market may hold me over for a while, we shall see.

a day of thrifting

via
I've been contemplating a day of thrifting (after next payday or sometime soon) where I go to the majority of the thrifty/consignment shops around the Salt Lake Valley and just scour. I tend to hit one or two on a good day and leave with a few items but there are so many that I haven't checked out in a long time, I feel they need some love.

My mother worked in a thrift store my entire childhood and I never appreciated it like I should have. I hated wearing anything second-hand. Now that I'm a working woman myself I realize that I can't go splurge at the mall like I used to, I have to be thrifty. This also makes Zack happy because I'm not blowing $100 everytime I go shopping (unless it's Target). Now I can spend $13 dollars and get six articles of clothing and usually a few weird trinkets to fill up the house with.

I'm going to go through my house to record some of my thrift store finds, but in the meantime I'm going to share this post with you from The Girls With Glasses Show. It's a video that shows some great tips with how to make the most of your thrifting experience. I always thought these tutorials were silly and kind of a waste of time until I actually applied the information and got some killer deals. It's easy to go into a thrift store with nothing really in mind and buy a bunch of stuff you kinda like, with some of these tips you can find things that are really worth the money you're spending for them and then Zack doesn't get upset that I'm buying ridiculous figurines of deer and panda bears.

Go here and reap the benefits! And if you live in Salt Lake and want to do a thrifting day let me know! I'd love company and we can help each other out. Email me at thatjordangirl (at) gmail (dot) com, or comment here!

i ate too many cookies last night...

...and I believe I am feeling it today.

However...I really like my outfit and hair so in true "I swear I'm not a style blogger because I have no style" form, here is a picture of me today!

(Dear Zack, if you see this...don't hate)

I'm off early today which brings me much joy. Having vacation time rules, though I have a lot of reading/research to do so I will still be "doing stuff". At least when I leave work early I'm slightly productive.

There are so many things I need to do with the holidays coming up. We need to design a Christmas card, we need to make goodies for the three neighbors that we have...I have so much to plan on and so many ideas to choose from that I'm completely procrastinating.

I love this time of year, I truly do.
