So my husband and I once started this podcast...and then we stopped...and then we started again. Feel free to listen, we are hilarious. And I get to talk about tv.

So I Married A Geek is a little project we started together to fulfill our need to talk about geeky stuff all of the time. Zack holds down most of the actual geek-talk, but I get to come in and rant about television, an d a bunch of other stuff...like blogging and tumbling and pinning and television. So it's grand.

the snowy podcast and a vlob

That is a great name for a children's story, eh? I will make a note of this. Ahem, good morning y'all (I guess afternoon, wowza). Last night we did a lil' podcasting as we normally do on Friday evenings, though last night part of the show was done remotely from my car. You see, Zack's co-host Kramer was at work so after beginning the show with Zack, I trekked off in the falling snow to fetch him from his place of business (which may or may not be Chuck-E-Cheese). When he got into my car, he called into the podcast line and did the show with Zack until we returned home. It was highly entertaining, at least for me. Last night was once of our best shows I think and I feel very excited that Zack and Kramer allow me to participate even though I have no podcasting skills.



The highlight of the evening was the fantastic batch of Kayla's wings I prepared. Since a few of you asked I thought I'd share a brief tutorial and a vlob about what goes into making these babies.



You start with the basics.





Franks Red Hot Sauce, 3 leftover butter sticks, canola or vegetable oil, hot wings from Wal-Mart.





Then you eat an autumn decorated Lofthouse cookie.





Heat up the canola oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees. Simmer two bottles of Franks Red Hot sauce and butter (add or delete butter as desired, this stuff burns your mouth regardless).





Eat another Lofthouse cookie.





Shake the fried wings in the hot sauce/butter concoction using tupperware, or if you're classy, use a freezer bag.





Eat another Lofthouse cookie.





Toss in bowl and enjoy! Even though you're now full from Lofthouse cookies.

pre-podcasting shenanigans

I'm sitting in our basement trying to figure out some content for tonight's podcast and downing nine cups of coffee so I don't fall asleep. Meanwhile, Mozzy decides he wants to come and drink my coffee. So I try to take some photos. And Mozzy hides. THEN I hear Zack and Kramer in the studio trying to get Gary Busey's ex-wife on the line...and...they may have been successful with that.






And now I think they're trying to call Jason Ellis. Or maybe they're watching Gary Busey videos on youtube. They all sound the same.

I'm really excited for Kayla's hot wings tonight. Nummy. Again.

podcast virgin

So as you know I'm married to a fantastic dude, Mr. Zack Shutt who runs a weekly podcast called Socially Awkward. He's also successfully produced several other podcasts throughout Utah. Last night while preparing for that weeks podcast I stumbled onto itunes to download The Nerdist because it came highly recommended from a friend of mine (as a slightly new nerdy gal I figured this was a good opportunity to learn some things). I casually mentioned that I'd never downloaded a podcast before and I swear that Zack almost lost his cookies.

"You have never downloaded a podcast? And you're my wife??"

He seriously looked at me like someone had killed his puppy. He gave me the same look that I give people when they tell me they've never seen The Shining or that they've never had a grilled cheese sandwich. Like, WHAT? It was a sad moment.

So now I am listening to this podcast and I am thoroughly entertained. It gives me a new appreciation for what Zack does and for what he pulls together every week, much without my help (I'm busy in the podcast chatroom). It's a lot of fun.

As for today we have many errands to run. There is a fantastically new Harmons in Farmington that I'm going to visit because I love grocery shopping at places with lots of options. They have bread bowls so that means awesome cheese soup all week long, unless I just cover the bread bowls in butter and eat them plain. Nothing wrong with that, butter is good y'all. I'm watching my dog chase a frisbee out in our backyard and that is reminding me to rake leaves. There are Halloween shindigs to visit and I need to reveal my costume in all of it's glory. And I need to paint my nails.
