I'm seriously not kidding. Here is every hit song of 1999 in less than 15 minutes. Get ready to transport, y'all.

Seriously I cannot explain how excited this makes me. I was boppin' like no other.

musical innuendo

The other day I bought the Jack & White Undercover EP and I have to say I'm extremely impressed. I was fortunate enough to meet Brooke White at Alt Summit this year, and I've admired her as a blogger, but I never realized her musical talent. I thought I'd share my favorite song from the album, a cover of ELO's Telephone Line. Enjoy.

How can you not remember this song? I think of Billy Madison every time.

The lipstick kills me.

They're Third Eye Blind cover isn't bad either. Just go listen.

those fancy schmancy morning drives to work

So this morning while driving into work I tried to let this lady into my lane. I can tell she'd been waiting for quite a while and I figured why not give myself some good karma. I slowed down to give her space and she didn't budge. I waited for a moment to see if she would acknowledge my offer and she still didn't move...at that point I had no choice but to move and as I closed in the gap I'd offered her I saw her scowl at me.

This really bothered me. Hey, I tried.

Now I try not to let things like this ruin my day, and it didn't, but what should have been a gesture of good service to put a smile on both mine and her face turned into us both being annoyed at the situation. What??

I'm excited for the motivation I'm already feeling this year, new projects that I want to work on. It's a good feeling to be progressive, I haven't been there so much. Most people think I'm sad. I'm not sad. I write like I'm sad. I need to work on that? I really am happy and feel motivated and good and healthy. I've been working like crazy at it and I still get really frustrated but I know it's all for the greater good. I have a wonderful life and a lot to be thankful for.

This was recommended to me by a friend and I now completely adore this song.

music from my childhood

For this morning's post I figured I'd dig out yet another gem from when I was Jordan Townsend (honestly, its to the point where it's weird typing that). The majority of my childhood was spent listening to country or showtunes but on rare occasions my mother would put on a record of her favorite band, The Moody Blues. I came to appreciate them at an early age, coming home from school early to find my mom on her hands and knees scouring the kitchen floor while Nights In White Satin blared on the record player (before record players were brought back, y'all). The particular song I've selected today was chosen for a special reason, the music video. My mother had recorded a special on KBYU that showcased the band's career and my mother was absolutely obsessed with the female lead in this video. Who wouldn't be, after you see how amazing her outfits and make up are you'll probably want to be her as well. Not to mention the song is brilliant. My friend Missy and I would watch this videotape for hours usually watching and rewinding the song over and over, and we were nine. We had good taste even then. Here you have it...

The Moody Blues - Your Wildest Dreams

I truly believe that my mom wished she had married Justin Hayward at some point. I wouldn't doubt it for a second.

it's friday, friday: i am happy it's cold

I'm basically the only know I know that gets excited when the cold weather rolls around. Is that strange? For my Friday morning post I thought I'd share with you a little playlist of music I compiled to celebrate coming of the cold (not to be confused with my playlist I compiled celebrating the actual cold). One day I'll be fancy and be able to link it so you can download it, until then you're on your own, but I'll post a pretty picture to make up for it!

hello autumn.

i'll be 23

I have had this song on repeat the last several days.

I"m really tired today, I'm not sure what it is. I slept a lot last night but for some reason I could not force myself to wake up this morning, bed was much too warm (considering both Aadi and Zack like to snuggle me because of my winter/all year fluff). I am exctied that there is only one more work day before the weekend. We have the podcast on Friday which I think I'll be participating in, we shall see, and then the rest of the weekend is kind of open. We have some Halloween festivities that we've been invited to, where I get to unveil my costume (it is so epic you guys, you don't even know), and Zack will also unveil his (I think it's hilarious). I do plan on taking dear Maddie to see Paranormal Activity 3 and I think Zack is going to tag along...I knew it. I knew he'd be intrigued enough to see it with me. Mwahahaha. We will probably do this Sunday before dinner at Zack's house. Tonight I have to make a trip the happies place on earth to get some last minute Halloween costume supplies and eyeliner. Eyeliner can also be included in my constume, but it is also to make myself pretty on a daily basis, I'll let you know how that works out.

foo fighters and tea bags

Today has been a good day.

I started the day quite optimistically. While making the shortish/long drive to work, This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas came on the radio, which inspired me to listen to Marilyn Manson's version which somehow inspired me to listen to Hungry Eyes by Eric Carmen, from Dirty Dancing. I'm not sure why but that song put me in a wonderful mood.

The day was spent doing the typical work thing. Conversations with co-workers, browsing pinterest, watching Buffy, looking at blogs, reading, oh and working. Though the work day ended on a rather heavy note I'd say it was a pretty successful day.

Our friend Kramer who has been staying with us got a job today so that rules. Now he can ski!

After work I made dinner! Now, this may not seem like much but for me it is a rather big feat. I can cook, I just choose not to. Tonight I boiled some pasta and added some sauce! It was amazing and I completely over-estimated the portions so now we can take it to lunch for three weeks.

After that, Zack wanted to play Arkham City so I decided to take a trip thrifting since I found twenty bucks in my pocket. I got four mugs and two shirts for eleven dollars. This is so amazing.

Hopefully Zack and I can watch some Revenge tonight, otherwise he has a lot of catching up to do.

The new(est) Foo Fighters album is pretty good. This song especially.

Life is pretty good. I wish people read this blog.

90's>80's

For work I've been helping with our United Way campaign, and we are doing an 80's theme of sorts this year and so at work I am fortunate enough to peruse the web for 80's trivia. As I prepared to send out todays email to the masses, I found a lyrical quiz for the 80's which led me to another lyrical quiz for the 90's. Being the music buff I pretend to be I figured I'd try them and wow....I didn't do so hot.

Here I got 111.5 which apparently is good.

Oh, even better, 67.8, this is embarrassing.

That's really a shame to my 90's generation. Click the links, take the quiz and let me know what you get in the comments. I will warn you, my FAVORITE SONG EVER is in the 80's quiz and if you get that wrong I am not sure if we can be friends. Seriously.

this is halloween

Go to title for any post probably revolving around Halloween however this completely applies right now.

This morning I heard This Is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas on the way to work and oddly enough it made my morning better. I'm not the biggest fan of the movie but that song always puts me in a huge Halloween mood. It's scary and fun and I love it.

Now a few years ago, I think for an anniversary of some sort, there was a re-release of the soundtrack with songs covered by different artists. Now, this is probably my favorite version of the song, the artist himself is...questionable? I honestly have a fascination with him, though most people loathe and despise him. I suppose that is part of the intrigue? Now just because I think he's an interesting figure that does not mean the following:

I worship Satan
I bit of chicken heads and swallow them
I want to shoot anyone down
I think rock'n roll is the Devil's music (do you know me?)

I just think exactly what I said, he is a very intriguing man. I think he's a character, to be honest, and a lot of what he does is a persona, but...I am not here to defend him.

Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Marilyn Manson
(honestly, who else would cover this perfectly?)

Wow, even more intrigued now. Super cool and his voice is wicked creepy.
