and the emmy goes to...again

via

So I must say, in the last few years as I've been aggressively pursuing my new passion, watching television and writing about it, I've noticed the Emmy Awards have not held my interest as they once had. Therefore my thoughts on last nights awards show is a little sporadic and also not live-blogged. I figure we will just wing it today.

Here's last years recap for reference. Even reading that now, it honestly doesn't make any sense, but part of me likes it that way.

In no particular order:

1. I do like Neil Patrick Harris. I truly do. However I like all of these other hosts quite a bit as well. Can we have Conan host again?
2. Just kidding. Kevin Spacey only from now on. Haven't watched House Of Cards yet? I suggest doing so now otherwise his little interjection makes absoultely no sense.
3. I do not mind Tina Fey or Amy Poehler. I just like Louis CK more.
4. I really watch none of these Comedy series, so I would have picked Mayim for Big Bang Theory simply out of my lack of knowledge, or maybe Anna Chlumsky because she will always be Vada Sultenfuss to me. Even Jane Lynch has lost it for me.
5. I still don't understand Sofia Vergara.
6. Okay the writing nominees are hilarious. Team Bobby Hill and Louis CK. And team Ed Helms.
7. The Deschanel's just make me really uncomfortable.
8. Bill Hader should have won.
9. However Tony Hale is adorable. Should probably watch Veep.
10. The tributes always get me, even if I don't know the guy. Robin Williams is looking nice.
11. Again, I really don't watch most of these comedies, but I believe that Julia-Louis Dreyfuss is deserved.
12. I feel nervous that Orange Wil Arnett has to get up there in front of non-orange Amy Poehler.
13. I'll take Jim Parson's and his adorable awkwardness though having Jason Batemen win would have made my day. Kind of.
14. Aw Jean Stapleton. Sob.
15. Elton. Elton always is amazing even if I really don't care for Liberace.
16. Breaking Bad not wining for writing makes no sense. Granted, I've never seen Homeland but I still feel this is a justified statement.
17. I love me some Emilia Clarke, and Maggie Smith but it was Anna Gunn's time to win. Skyler has paid her dues, she needed something good in her life.
18. I'm not sure I'd trust Bryan Cranston's advice.
19. I'm kind of obsessed with Aaron Paul's wife, she is insanely beautiful.
20. The Cory tribute I was dreading was very beautiful but also did not get me as much as I thought it was. Though Jane Lynch said it wonderfully, he was a very beautiful soul.
21. Supporting Actor Drama is seriously a tough category. Aaron Paul, Jonathan Banks and Peter Dinklage. How can I choose?
22. Oh I guess I don't have to, go guy from Boardwalk Empire who played an even more epic supporting role on Sex and the City as funky spunk guy.
23. I think even Jeff Daniel's was surprised to win over Bryan Cranston. And now I'll make the joke everyone else made last year and probably this year when Walter White lost, Jeff Daniel's please watch your drink now, it may be spiked with Ricin.
24. I like Carrie Underwood but not when she sings the Beatles.
25. I like Claire Danes when she is Juliet and basically in life as well.
26. Is it okay that I'm liking Uncle Hank hanging out with Khaleesi? Because I do. He is looking mighty svelte and I enjoy her with dark hair.
27. I could gush over this choreography section probably forever. I won't, I'll limit it.
28. Watching all these kids (minus Hough) grow up on So You Think You Can Dance and seeing them here now is kind of surreal but makes me weirdly proud.
29. I rooted for Allison Holker and then for Travis Wall when she was sent home and they've both done so well.
30. Out of all the routines I think the American Horror Story: Asylum and Game Of Thrones were my favorite, though the Breaking Bad hip hop was rather fun, as well as the Big Bang Theory little ditty.
31. Oh and Mandy Moore (not the singer) once choreographed a dance to the song Footloose for my company. Badass.
32. Of course the one that I'm not rooting for wins. Go Hough.
33. Okay the tribute to James Gandolfini was the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. Wow, that hit me.
34. I will always like James Cromwell, but he will always be the man from Babe and Six Feet Under no matter what else he does.
35. Bryan Cranston and Claire Danes should be friends.
37. Will Ferrel and his children have stolen my heart.
38. I think those are his real kids? Maybe not, but if they are he has stolen it even more.
39. Okay, I truly wanted Louis even though I thought that 30 Rock had it in the bag but nope, Modern Family. Should I be watching this?
40. FINALLY. Okay I actually was unaware Breaking Bad hadn't won yet, so I definitely feel this is deserved. Even over Mad Men which I still don't understand.
41. Vince Gilligan I also thought it would be House Of Cards which I would have been fine with. Also Game Of Thrones would have been good.
42. Wow I am done.

So post thoughts? There is a lot I am not watching, but maybe it's because typically I'm drawn to terrible television with a few gems in there as well. Next year I predict a Breaking Bad sweet, but I'm sure that House Of Cards will be in there as well as some Orange Is The New Black. Taryn Manning better get something on the OITNB front but as for the meth show, I'm hoping that Dean Norris finally gets recognized for his amazing portrayal of Hank. It's time.

That being said, Dexter received no love, and after that ending I'm not too surprised. Thoughts on that will come later as well as some more Breaking Bad theories because of yes.

And better late than never, here is the choreography, just for kicks.
