So, Sunday morning after a lovely yoga session, we dropped the doggies off at selective family members abodes and hit the road toward Southern Utah. On the way down we saw a few things of note: a haunted cemetery, a fire being put out by helicopters carrying water, and desert. That third was a given, eh?
First we had to stop in Helper and see the worlds largest Coal Miner...

We arrived in the Moab area around 7pm and had about an hour and a half to kill before our dinner reservation. The ranch we stayed at was beyond awesome, Zack couldn't have picked a better place. We were maybe 50 feet from the Colorado river (which we'd be rafting down tomorrow morning) if we were laying in the bed in our room. It was crazy. There was even a little lizard hanging out on our patio, but he scurried away before I could grab him. I want all animals to like me, and I was already missing the doggies.

We had dinner in the Dining Hall of our ranch, they had a winery on site. It was amazing. We ordered a Chardonnay Blend that could not have been more heavenly. I had a grilled portobello mushroom, Zack had a blackened Wahoo fish (that sounds fun, I hate fish) and we enjoyed a lightning storm over the cliffs.

The next morning we woke at dawn to head out to Takeout Beach to meet our rafting group. Many Italians and then...us. Unfortunately there are no photos of the rafting because I was too afraid to take my camera. But lets just say, I swam in the river, I didn't fall out on any of the rapids and I got burnt to a crisp. One day I'll learn that even on overcast days, I still need sunscreen.

After that we were starved so we went back to the ranch to enjoy our leftovers. We spend the rest of the day driving through Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands and snapping many photos and videos, and making friends with more lizards.

Jordan, like Mckayla, is not impressed.

Tomorrow I'll recap the evening as well as the adventure home...trust me there are some gems in there.
For the record...
Our soundtrack? Noel Gallagaher's High Flying Birds. Yessssss. Tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 especially.
I am so jeal! Moab is the shit, you guys are the shit and this trip looks like it was the shit. Also, in the jumping photos, if it weren't for your shadows I would totally think you were both photoshopped onto that perfect desert background.
