This week I thought I'd share four of my favorite music videos (leaving out the obvious Thriller). Now, these are not my favorite songs, not at all, but for some reason all of these videos have stuck with me.
First I guess I should ask, do people remember music videos? Do bands even still make music videos (I know the answer to this. Yes. Katy Perry makes videos featuring Hanson, Rebecca Black, one of the Corey's and Debbie Gibson...oh yeah and Kenny G). My friend Missy had this amazing VHS just full of music videos from the 80's and 90's and we would put it on and watch it for hours. Twisted Sister, lots of Weird Al and MJ, Ugly Kid Joe, Van Halen, Nirvana, Alanis...the list goes on and on. I wish I could track that down as well as a VHS player and sit in front of the tube and just stare.
Okay, to the list.
Simple Plan...Untitled
Yeah, I'll admit it. A Simple Plan video made this list. I enjoyed them during my pop-punk days but they weren't even in my top five favorites. But this video is brilliantly constructed and really sad, you guys.
And I won't lie, I find myself singing this in my car a lot.
Everybody (Backstreet's Back)...Backstreet Boys
Because I'm 12. I was OBSESSED with this when I was that age, I couldn't get enough of how "risque" it was even if it isn't.
30 Seconds To Mars...The Kill
Because one of my favorite scary movies of all time is The Shining I love how this video payed tribute to that movie, and in a very unique way. Good job, Leto.
And lastly I'm gonna use a cover. Now unlike practically everyone else, I love cover songs, even the bad ones. This is one of my favorites...
Metallica...Turn The Page
Metallica's take on Bob Segar's classic...interesting twist they take.
Happy weekending, y'all.
I like some nights by fun
