I truly believe that my mom wished she had married Justin Hayward at some point. I wouldn't doubt it for a second.

music from my childhood

For this morning's post I figured I'd dig out yet another gem from when I was Jordan Townsend (honestly, its to the point where it's weird typing that). The majority of my childhood was spent listening to country or showtunes but on rare occasions my mother would put on a record of her favorite band, The Moody Blues. I came to appreciate them at an early age, coming home from school early to find my mom on her hands and knees scouring the kitchen floor while Nights In White Satin blared on the record player (before record players were brought back, y'all). The particular song I've selected today was chosen for a special reason, the music video. My mother had recorded a special on KBYU that showcased the band's career and my mother was absolutely obsessed with the female lead in this video. Who wouldn't be, after you see how amazing her outfits and make up are you'll probably want to be her as well. Not to mention the song is brilliant. My friend Missy and I would watch this videotape for hours usually watching and rewinding the song over and over, and we were nine. We had good taste even then. Here you have it...

This made me smile :) Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThe Moody Blues is my mom's favorite band too! But it had the exact opposite effect for me. I really unfortunately can't stand to listen to them because my mom listened to them too much. My mom actually said she would have married Justin Hayward had she got the chance. I think there would've been a fight between our moms....
