Youtube doesn't like to have the actual Judd's version, so here is someone else. She does alright :].

You know when there is a song from your kid days that you always thought was a little awkward and then you listen to it as an adult and it is still awkward? Yeah, that is this song. Daddy's Hands, by the Judds is a fine song about the love of a father, but the line, "Daddy's hands were hard a steel when I'd done wrong...daddy's hands weren't always gentle..." always rubbed me the wrong way. I imagine their father smelling of bourbon and drinking out of a bottle with XXX's on it. Yep. Enjoy!

music from my childhood

For this morning's post I figured I'd dig out yet another gem from when I was Jordan Townsend (honestly, its to the point where it's weird typing that). The majority of my childhood was spent listening to country or showtunes but on rare occasions my mother would put on a record of her favorite band, The Moody Blues. I came to appreciate them at an early age, coming home from school early to find my mom on her hands and knees scouring the kitchen floor while Nights In White Satin blared on the record player (before record players were brought back, y'all). The particular song I've selected today was chosen for a special reason, the music video. My mother had recorded a special on KBYU that showcased the band's career and my mother was absolutely obsessed with the female lead in this video. Who wouldn't be, after you see how amazing her outfits and make up are you'll probably want to be her as well. Not to mention the song is brilliant. My friend Missy and I would watch this videotape for hours usually watching and rewinding the song over and over, and we were nine. We had good taste even then. Here you have it...
The Moody Blues - Your Wildest Dreams
I truly believe that my mom wished she had married Justin Hayward at some point. I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
