a day of thrifting

via I've been contemplating a day of thrifting (after next payday or sometime soon) where I go to the majority of the thrifty/consignment shops around the Salt Lake Valley and just scour. I tend to hit one or two on a good day and leave with a few items but there are so many that I haven't checked out in a long time, I feel they need some love.

My mother worked in a thrift store my entire childhood and I never appreciated it like I should have. I hated wearing anything second-hand. Now that I'm a working woman myself I realize that I can't go splurge at the mall like I used to, I have to be thrifty. This also makes Zack happy because I'm not blowing $100 everytime I go shopping (unless it's Target). Now I can spend $13 dollars and get six articles of clothing and usually a few weird trinkets to fill up the house with.

I'm going to go through my house to record some of my thrift store finds, but in the meantime I'm going to share this post with you from The Girls With Glasses Show. It's a video that shows some great tips with how to make the most of your thrifting experience. I always thought these tutorials were silly and kind of a waste of time until I actually applied the information and got some killer deals. It's easy to go into a thrift store with nothing really in mind and buy a bunch of stuff you kinda like, with some of these tips you can find things that are really worth the money you're spending for them and then Zack doesn't get upset that I'm buying ridiculous figurines of deer and panda bears.
