Roddenberry with Jonathan Frakes

I have to admit, I'm a relatively new Star Trek fan, but I can't help but acknowledge the death of one of the most brilliant creators of our time. Gene not only created an excellent television series which spawned several successful spinoffs, but he created an entire culture...a world if you will. A world that I am completely enveloped in.
Growing up I did watch the occasional episode of Deep Space Nine, but I'll be honest. I really didn't enjoy it too much. I only watched because a neighbor of a girlfriend of mine would only let us play with her if we played Star Trek. Now being the cool, older girl we envied, we happily obliged (they always made me be Deanna Troi, I didn't appreciate it at the time and now I regret that).
After meeting, falling in love with and marrying Zack, I sort of knew that the Trekkie life would be revisted, I just didn't realize it would have the impact that it did. When the entire series of Next Generation showed up on Netflix, Zack was more than eager to watch it all and of course he wanted to drag me along. Reluctant I sat down and watched the Pilot and was bored to tears, I'm not even kidding. And then, something happened. I watched the second episode, the one where they're all infected with something...that makes them appear drunk. It was absolutely hilarious and brilliant and I was completely hooked from that moment on.
I'm an avid Wesley Crusher fan, I think Data is the smartest Andriod alive and I have submitted my application to Starfleet Acadamy (after I graduate Hogwarts, of course). Needless to say if you've never been a fan, try Next Generation, you may be surprised.
Engage.
