I had a Snuggle Bear. The one in the above photo is far better looking than mine (I will provide a photo soon if it is still where I left it...on my bed...after I slept with it...last night), considering mine is now about 25 years old. I sleep with a Snuggle Bear (and my husband and our two dogs, fullest bed ever) and I wouldn't have it any other way.
At least I know it's not just me. I have one friend that used to sleep with a purple bear/monkey (truly, I'm not sure which), mamed Monks, another that had a pretty white bear that I think was just called White Bear. My younger brother had this nasty white blanket he'd cart around everywhere and my younger sister had a plush Barney doll that she sadly lost to our cat who tried to nurse off of it. Classy cat.
Lately though I'm not seeing kids with comfort objects, or at least it's not as abundant as it was when I was a kid. This makes me sad, I almost want to force a teddy bear on my kid, YOU WILL SLEEP WITH THIS AND YOU WILL LIKE IT. Wow, I'm going to be an excellent mother.
