168. i don't think so tim

So I've been watching a lot of Home Improvement on YouTube and I've come to decide that Tim and Jill Taylor have an amazing relationship. They have the kind of relationship I sometimes feel my husband and I have. They have different interests and different personalities yet they know how to mash them together to make a happy marriage.

Tim, clearly is the alpha-male. He is into anything involving tools, cars, (grunt, grunt), etc. Jill is the home maker, classic wife with ambitions of being a working woman as well. Tim supports Jill to venture out into the working world while Jill supports Tim and his dream of building a hot rod. It's a good amount of give and take.

There are times, however, when they do not see eye to eye. In the popular episode Shooting Three To Make Tutu, Jill has some last minute work to finish up so she asks Tim to take Mark to Swan Lake. Conveniently that same day, Wilson gives Tim court side seats to the Pistons game which happens to be scheduled at the same time as the ballet. Tim and Mark venture to the ballet, only to leave after 3o minutes to make the game. Jill feels disappointed and is upset at Tim for valuing a basketball game over the ballet. She feels that Mark will not become a well-rounded individual this way. Tim makes up for it by making a videotape that shows how basketball can be just as "graceful" as the ballet. Laughter ensues.

The point is, they don't necessarily agree on all things but they're willing to compromise (mostly Jill) and appreciate the other for trying (mostly Tim). In my opinion I think it's a good dynamic. I like to watch shows like Home Improvement all Saturday long while Zack likes to play Starcraft. It's not exactly the same but it works for us.
