kick, punch, chop, block

The only time I really get serious about buckling down and writing is when I am wanting inspiration or deciding if I should cut my hair. I'm not about to jump onto #claviclecut2013 that's going around but seriously my hair is stringy and sometimes I think chopping it off and starting all over would be the best solution.

I once bet a friend $50 that she couldn't grow her hair out to her armpits. Last week that same friend is the one who told me to cut my hair into a long bob. I see why she can't grow her hair out, it gets to the point where every time you try and run your fingers through it you're just pulling out dead strands. I think I lost half of my hair today in my garbage can.

Thing is, she's right. My hair gets pretty stringy so today I cut off the ends with some utility scissors. I can't commit to paying someone to do that. Maybe I'll chop it? I probably won't. This is the longest it's ever been and even if I chop it off it will still grow back as unhealthy as long as I keep dying it black.

Decisions.

Speaking of the title of this entry, does anyone else remember the PS1 game Pa Rappa The Rapper? That game was dope.

give me a head with hair

So I've decided recently that committing to a part in my hair is ridiculous. I change my mind too much (it's the same with bangs, but that is a whole other story for another day). I've done the middle part for almost a year, I'm a big fan of the side part but my bangs are at that weird stage where they just look like they're constantly in my face and some days I just don't want to bobby pin, I just don't.

My hair is finally at it's longest stage, at least it is on my right side. I sleep on my left so I have a feeling it's being stunted though I do not have proof of this. Either way, having it a little off is fine, I try not to let it bother me and I only really notice when I am in the shower and it's straight. The way I wear it all messy-like certainly helps.

Over the summer I committed to a hair routine of washing it twice a week. I'm officially down to washing it only on Sundays and with the help of dry shampoo (when it doesn't make me look like I have dandruff) it's been maintained quite well. I think its definitely made my hair healthier and I find myself loathing washing day, mainly because my hair is too clean to do anything with and it just looks flat and weird. Hair problems, oy.

Fine, I'll talk about my bangs. I look better with bangs and that is why I have always had them, so right now I'm rebelling. I rebelled last year and caved and cut them, so now I'm trying to be very strong. Parting your hair in the middle is always a little awkward with bangs but I have been told that I make it work. That's comforting considering how self-conscious I am.

I dye my hair too, so I'll never be able to donate it to locks of love. I have to dye my hair once a month. It sucks but it's a luxory I won't give up. I look better with dark hair, considering I was blond for a good part of my life. I hated being blond. Never again.

I wish I could pull off the dreads or a Miley cut, mainly because those that have hair like that are able to justify it by saying it made them them. I think my weird uneven, broken, damaged hair makes me me, so I should probably just leave it. And not cut bangs.

boys and pinterest

Basically today I did this with my hair:

From my pinboard

...and the only person to notice it was from Pinterest was a boy. None of the women I work with that scour pinterest on a daily basis noticed, yet a boy who isn't on pinterest, but his wife is, noticed.

How about that?

the long and short of it

It's official, I'm trying to grow out my bangs. I have had bangs since 2003 and I figure that warrents a change (whoa, that's almost 10 years ago, that is terrifying). Now I'm in that awkward "I sort of have bangs but don't" stage, so there is a lot of hair scarves, bobby pins and comb-over's happening in my life. I just want to get them grown out at least to my cheeks. I saw a photo today that is EXACTLY what I'm looking for in my growing out stage, I can't believe how cute it is...I also wish I had this hair color and smoothness instead of the ridiculous split ends I sport daily.

Oh, I need my hair to grow out likerightnow.
