shiny paper: cozy

Its a hugely rare occasion that I leave my house on a weeknight unless it is to pick up takeout. I think I've concluded why this evening. I am sitting here writing and I have my doggys on the bed with me and the heat is up just enough...my bedroom is ridiculously cozy. I'm not even under the covers in pajamas and I'm feeling the warmth. I can stay here all night and I probably will (until I get up and make some mac and cheese, then I will be here again.

Ever since we bought our house last year decor has been on my mind almost constantly. You purchase your first real space and all you want to do is fill it with things that show off your lifestyle. Funny how much Zack and I differ on decor. I'm relatively relaxed and vintagy (or "vint" as Zack will call it) and he is very modern and sleek. It makes for some very interesting patterns but I couldn't have it another way, our house is so very much both of us, even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else.

That being said, I have wanted to redecorate room by room and I swear I change my opinion on the style of it daily. After we moved in we immediately painted the bedroom a dark wine color. I love it, it goes well with the black cast iron bed and the bright blue and white quilt pops against the darkness of the walls and drapes (when it is not covered in dog hair). My bedroom is probably the room I spend the most time with whether its curling up with Zack and watching something on the tele or typing on this here blog or playing with the doggys on the bed. Considering I spend the majority of my evening in here I figure it needs to be a place that we enjoy.

Now, where most of these would be totally unrealistic, I want to share a few of some of the loveliest bedroom spaces I have ever seen. Some people are so creative and make these places so inviting.
