TED talks and becoming a creative

Do you TED talk? I think most do now, but I'm fairly new. With the exception of a few by Stephen Hawking that I was forced to watch that one time, I only thought they were talks on science and math and technology.

Oh it is so much more than that.

Tonight I stumbled upon a few of these talks that got my juices going. Amanda Palmer (of The Dresden Dolls (now Coin-Operated Boy is in your head)) gave an amazing speech on not making her fans pay for music but letting them, because they truly do care. Elizabeth Gilbert (author of Eat, Pray, Love) gave a talk on how to channel your elusive creative genius. My current favorite though is Brene Brown's talk on vulnerability. That's heavy shit right there.

I want to be creative. I want to write and dream and make and creative and observe and cherish. All of those things. I don't know where to begin. Besides the book, I've had a few other ideas over the years of how to channel that. I'm not a painter, I'm not a dancer (though I tried for a really long time so maybe I am in a way), I'm not a sculptor or actor or designer but I am an artist. That much I do know.

So, ready to feel inspired?
