116. le musique

I used to be really into music. Like crazy, obsessive to find the latest band that was cool and download their entire discography. In the great computer crash of mine in '08 I sort of lost touch with anything new.

That all changed when I got the laptop in 2011. Now, I have been trying to catch up, downloading much new music (and even finding a site with everything Dave Matthew's Band has ever recorded live, and being made fun of lots by Husband), and I've found a few gems, but mostly it's just restored my faith in what I already have on my ipod.

I rarely listen to full albums. I mostly put everything on shuffle because I enjoy the randomness, and usually I'm to indecisive to settle on anything so I let ipod (Mark) decide for me. Mark knows what I am in the mood for.

However, there are a few albums that I can put on and listen to all of the way through...it's rare, but I regard these albums very highly. I thought I'd share them now.

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Let me tell you a story about Fleetwood Mac and Jordan. Now, it's weird because this story really has nothing to do with a song on this album...it has to do with their song Silver Springs off of another album. This song gives me chills, and where it's very personal to Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham, it should be on the Rumours album. Anyway, when I was about 10, my mom recorded Fleetwood Mac's The Dance concert on PBS. I watched them perform numerous songs from Rumours as well as this song...and holy crap. With that performance (if you're a Mac fan, I highly suggest youtubing it), even as young as I was, I could actually feel the anger that Stevie had at Lindsay...she was livid and her voice and performance showed that...and it was just so bizarre to be able to feel that and not even know at all what love was. With that being said, this album also shows how insane love can be, but how they used all of their drama to create a brilliant piece of musical art.

Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

I'm not going to elaborate as much as I could on this otherwise it would be pages upon pages but this is my favorite album of all time. The lyrics are genius and as a "wanna-be" writer I cannot help but wish I had the creepy, twisted mind to write like this. Every song is beautiful and haunting and sometimes I get tears when even listening...it's hard to explain. It's emo and I like it.

Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More

This is one of the newer gems I've found, literally by word of mouth, but I couldn't be more glad. They are fantastic.

Lifehouse - No Name Face

I used to listen to this album while I would drive from Farmington to Ogden every night of the week for dance. Every song on this could have been a single, I've still really liked most of what Lifehouse has done, but this first album of theirs is very special to me.

That's just a few of my favorites to share now...Wow, my taste is special, eh?

Jordan.
